This difference makes the watch more useful because there is no place on the earth that is forbidden.
So if you find yourself in an emergency, you unscrew the cap of the transmitter and put the antenna from both sides. The watch then sends an alternating 121.5 mhz analog signal and a digital signal 406 mhz between the distress signals, all up to 24 hours.
